Mohamed Salah still important to Liverpool - Former Real Madrid star
Former Real Madrid and Spain striker Fernando Morientes has insisted that Mohamed Salah remains a crucial asset for Liverpool, despite the club’s run of inconsistent performances.
What Fernando said
Speaking in an interview with TribalFootball, Morientes compared Liverpool’s current situation to that of his former club Real Madrid, noting that both teams are experiencing a challenging period marked by fluctuating results.
“What’s been happening to Liverpool is similar to what’s been happening at Real Madrid: they’re not quite getting the results,” Morientes said.
He added, “Liverpool were used to winning, and their biggest star is Salah.”
Morientes acknowledged that Salah, like all top players, is moving into a different stage of his career, with younger talents emerging across Europe.
“The thing is, Salah, like everyone else, is getting older, and new players keep emerging,” he explained.
He added, “What’s clear is that what Salah has done for Liverpool is something very few players will ever do, in terms of goals, influence and leadership.”
Salah has been one of Liverpool’s most prolific players since joining the club, playing a decisive role in their Premier League and Champions League triumphs.
According to Morientes, Salah could still make a great contribution to the team, even if his influence is not as dominant as it was in previous seasons.
“I think he can still have an impact, but probably not as much as he did in the past. That said, many players become legends because of everything they’ve done and because of what they contribute to the team from a different role, and Salah could be one of them,” he said.
