You are a distraction - Former Liverpool star tells Mo Salah leave Anfield
Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has advised Mohamed Salah to part ways with the club at the end of the season, suggesting a move to the Saudi Pro League would be the best outcome for both player and club.
Hamann believed Salah’s ongoing situation at Anfield has become an unwanted distraction, particularly following the arrival of new manager Arne Slot.
What Hamann said
Speaking in an interview with BetGoat, as reported by GOAL, the former Germany international was blunt in his assessment of Salah’s future.
“He had the chance to go to Saudi Arabia last season, and he did not. I am not sure he wants to go there,” Hamann said.
He added that a separation would be mutually beneficial. “If you ask me today, the best solution would be to part ways. It would probably benefit him and the team.”
Hamann pointed to comments made by Salah and the constant speculation surrounding his role in the team as factors affecting Liverpool’s stability.
“He came out with statements I didn’t really understand. It lingers around the camp, and every time he does not play, Arne Slot gets asked why, and it becomes a distraction,” Hamann noted.
Salah remains one of Liverpool’s most influential players, but questions over his long-term future continue to dominate discussions around the club.
