Super Eagles legend John Mikel Obi is set for a sensational return to Stamford Bridge, as he was named in the lineup for the coming Soccer Aid clash.
The 37-year-old called Stamford Bridge home from 2006 till 2017, cementing himself as a Blues legend. He has since called time on his illustrious career, and he is now a football personality, dabbling in several off-pitch activities, including hosting a podcast and making guest appearances at award shows.
However, at intervals, the 37-year-old has cause to don his boots and shinpads as he participates in charity matches and testimonials. He is set to be involved in another, as he was revealed to be in the lineup for an imminent Soccer Aid clash.
Mikel set to participate in Soccer Aid clash
Soccer Aid is an organisation that arranges charity matches, and their next event will be on June 9 at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium.
The match is set to be between England soccer stars, featuring both male and female footballers, playing against Soccer Aid World IX. Soccer Aid’s team features celebrities like Usain Bolt, Eden Hazard, Roberto Carlos, Tommy Fury etc. Chelsea’s Mauricio Pochettino is set to be the manager.
Soccer Aid promised further announcements in the way of additions to the Soccer Aid IX, and today, via a joint post on Instagram, Super Eagles legend Mikel Obi was named as one of the participants.
