Harambee Stars player Manzur Okwaro is set to join pain ranks abroad, six months after joining Nairobi United from KCB.

Okwaro was one of the outstanding players during Harambee Stars’ run to the quarter-final of the 2024 African Nations Championships especially after coach Benni McCarthy played him in central midfield.

Since then, the player’s star has continued to shine and he was rumoured to be attracting interest from abroad before the surprise move to Nairobi United.

However, Okwaro has played sparingly for Naibos even as he continued to receive national team call-ups, but it is believed he still had suitors abroad.

Which Club Has Signed Okwaro?

Now, according to Pepeta, Okwaro has agreed to sign for French second division side Stade de Reims, home to Harambee Stars teammate Joseph Okumu.

The outlet reports that Okwaro chose Reims following advice from McCarthy, who shares an agency with him, and he has reportedly completed his medical with his unveiling set to happen soon.

The former Kenya U20 star is a utility player who can play in central midfield, left-back and in central defence, although the latter is his specialty.

He joins Okumu, who has been at Reims since 2023, and was one of the highly rated defenders in the French Ligue 1 before the club’s relegation to the second tier.

Reims are currently fifth on the table and still with hopes of pushing for automatic promotion back to the top flight as they have 32 points from 19 games.
