“Long before I was here, there was a legacy that Nigerian women’s football left behind. This is our 10th African title, so some of these women have been laying the foundation for the next generations,” Plumptre said via Nigerian Tribune.

Plumptre, who has been a key figure in the Super Falcons’ backline, emphasised the importance of creating pathways for young girls to pursue their dreams, whether in football or beyond.

She said, “I just hope that many young girls in Nigeria feel connected to our success and know that with the right support and protection, they can achieve really good things.”

She added that the significance of their journey wasn’t only in winning championships, but in the message their unity sends.

“Sometimes it doesn’t have to be about winning championships. It’s about the power of support, which reveals more about who we are, how we connect with other people, and how important teamwork is," she added.

The Super Falcons continue to inspire a new generation of Nigerian girls through their performance, as they won their 10th WAFCON title in Morocco.
