Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has named Jadon Sancho’s preferred position on the pitch.

Ten Hag made the reveal while speaking about the progress made by the England star following a special night at Old Trafford.

Sancho was one of the standout performers as United thrashed Chelsea 4-1 in the Premier League to book a return to the Champions League.

The 23-year-old was outstanding as the Red Devils brushed aside their visitors to end the top four ruthlessly at Old Trafford.

Sancho played one of his best games for the Red Devils after switching to the right following an unfortunate injury to teammate Antony on the night.

It’s been two years since his highly-anticipated move from Borussia Dortmund to United, but he has failed to justify the heavy investment on him.

Sancho’s preferred position has been a topic of discussion amongst United fans, but against the Blues, the talented element excelled on the right.

He created five chances, made four key passes and assisted the second goal of the night in an excellent performance.

After the game, Ten Hag noted that Sancho’s performance was a sign of the progress he has made while answering questions about his preferred position.

“He did very well on the right side and i think he played a good game,” the United manager said per Fotmob.

“I think Sancho is one of the players who made progress in the season and there are many players in our squad who made good progress. I think it’s a good base to build further on.”

Speaking further, the former Ajax boss added;

“He can do,” he said when asked about Sancho’s preferred position.

“I think he prefers to play on the left, but we have seen today he is very good on the right as well.”
