The Chelsea left-back is currently on loan at Dortmund until the summer after joining the German outfit in January.
His performance has caught the eye of top clubs including Man City who are looking to get the youngster from Chelsea.
Maatsen on the move
Dortmund hopes and believes that after seeing Maatsen play so well for them, he will declare his desire to join the team.
While Maatsen's form has thrilled Dortmund, it has also unavoidably put other teams—including Manchester City—on notice.
According to reports from Tbrfootball, Man City are among the teams monitoring his development; they plan to add a new left-back this summer and are keeping an eye on Maatsen, which is why they sent scouts to Signal Iduna Park to observe him.
Maatsen signed a contract with Chelsea which extended until 2026, but it also contained a release clause of £35 million, which is nearly guaranteed to be fulfilled.
However, since he arrived, he struggled to get into Mauricio Pochettino's side, managing just one start before being loaned to Dortmund.
Since his loan move to Dortmund, Maatsen has done excellently well. He was involved in Dortmund’s 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
