I want to step up - Man United star declares after latest masterclass vs Real Betis
Manchester United youngster Amad Traore has reacted to his latest outing for the Red Devils in preseason against Real Betis.
Amad delivered a man-of-the-match display as Man United defeated the LaLiga side 3-2 in their keenly contested clash early Thursday morning.
Man United star on big season
The 22-year-old proved to be a standout performer for Erik Ten Hag’s side as they bounced back from the defeat to Arsenal the last time.
After a slow start by the Red Devils, Amad combined with talented youngster Harry Amass to fire the Reds into a 2-1 with a fantastic strike for his second goal in the US Tour.
Following that performance, the Ivorian, who helped the Red Devils in their FA Cup journey last season, told the club that he is looking to step up his game ahead of a potential breakthrough season at the club.
“I want to step up this season,” Amad told the club website moments after the game against Betis. “I am motivated and excited. I can’t wait to start the season.”
Amad was on the pitch for just a little over an hour and in that time he created the most chances, the most key passes, won the most duels, and completed the most dribbles with a 92% pass accuracy.
Three years after he joined Man United from Serie A side Atalanta, the Ivorian playmaker is looking for his first big break at the club.
During his time at the club, he has managed just 21 appearances with three goals and two assists to his name.
