Man City vs Exeter: Semenyo scores on debut as Cityzens hit TEN in FA Cup rout
All eyes were on Ghana international Antoine Semenyo, who was handed his full debut just 24 hours after completing his £62.5 million move from Bournemouth.
Wearing the iconic number 42, Semenyo lived up to the hype, finding the net in the 54th minute with a clinical low finish to make it 6-0. In doing so, he became the first City player since Sergio Aguero in 2011 to record both a goal and an assist on his debut.
The rout began early when Max Alleyne poked home the opener. Following two Exeter own goals and a Rodri strike, City entered the break with a 4-0 cushion.
The second half turned into a masterclass as Rico Lewis bagged a brace, while Tijjani Reijnders, Nico O'Reilly, and debutant Ryan McAidoo all found the net.
Exeter’s traveling fans enjoyed a brief moment of joy when George Birch hammered home a left-footed consolation. However, Lewis’s stoppage-time tap-in secured double figures—the first time a Pep Guardiola side has hit ten at City. With Semenyo integrated and the goals flowing, City look rejuvenated ahead of a massive week featuring Newcastle and the Manchester derby.
