Everton began strongly, with Iliman Ndiaye creating the best early chance, narrowly failing to connect with Beto for what should have been the opener.
City's first-half efforts were limited, with Haaland hitting the bar and Jérémy Doku being denied by Jordan Pickford.
The deadlock was finally broken by the irrepressible Haaland two minutes before the hour mark, as he headed home Nico O’Reilly’s cross.

Nico O'Reilly floats an inch-perfect cross in from the left and Erling rises highest to power a header past Jordan Pickford. Get in! 🩵

Just five minutes later, the Norwegian doubled his tally with a vicious low drive from Savinho's cutback.
This brace took Haaland’s outrageous scoring run to 23 goals in just 13 matches for club and country.
Pep Guardiola's men climbed to the top of the standings after the win, with Arsenal due to face Fulham later.
