Born in Düsseldorf, Germany, to an Igbo Nigerian father and a German mother, Okoye has always maintained a strong tie to his African heritage.

Okoye traveled to Amechi Uwani, a community in the Enugu South Local Government Area, where he visited his father's old house and primary school.
The visit, captured in a video that has gone viral showed Okoye exploring the surroundings with family and friends.
In another video, Okoye was seen engaging in a fitness exercise at Okpara Square in Enugu.
Okoye was not only jogging but also vibing to "Egwu Ogene," a traditional Igbo music.
This comes after Maduka Okoye helped Africans in Germany connect with attendance at a vibrant community event organised by AFC Germany and BK West United FC.
