‘Madrid strike again’ — Super Falcons legend Oshoala laments refereeing decisions favouring Los Blancos
Super Falcons legend Asisat Oshoala has once again taken a swipe at what she sees as favourable officiating towards Real Madrid after a controversial 1–0 win over Getafe in LaLiga.
The Nigerian forward could not resist reacting online after two Getafe players were sent off in the space of minutes, paving the way for Kylian Mbappé’s late winner.
Oshoala’s prediction comes true in dramatic fashion
Oshoala, who previously starred fro Barcelona’s Femeni team had taken to social media before the turning point of the match, seemingly predicting that Real Madrid would benefit from refereeing decisions. She wrote on X, “76mins 0-0 lol …..incoming PK / red card.”
Just moments after her post, Getafe defender Alan Nyom received a straight red card in the 77th minute following a reckless challenge on Vinícius Júnior.
And as if scripted, Real Madrid capitalised immediately; substitute Arda Güler teed up Kylian Mbappé to slot home the decisive goal in the 80th minute.
Oshoala later doubled down with a follow-up post that went viral among fans: “LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Madrid strike again 🤣🤣🤣,” amused that her “prediction” had played out.
Madrid benefit as Getafe finish with nine men
Before Vinícius’s introduction, Getafe had kept Madrid’s attack quiet in a tense goalless encounter. But the Brazilian’s direct running unsettled the home side’s defence, eventually leading to the two sendings-off.
After Nyom’s dismissal, Getafe’s Álex Sancris was also sent off for a second yellow in the 84th minute following another challenge on Vinícius, reducing the hosts to nine men.
While Real Madrid fans celebrated the win that restored their place at the top of LaLiga, many observers, Oshoala included, questioned the consistency of refereeing decisions involving Los Blancos.
