Kakamega Homeboyz coach Patrick 'Luwowo' Odhiambo felt his men had Nairobi City Stars on the ropes in their 0-0 draw on Wednesday afternoon.

The Abana Abeingo played Simba wa Nairobi in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match at Kasarani Annex, but neither could find the back of the net.

The former Biashara United coach was delighted with how his team started the game but has faulted the attacking department for not finishing the chances created.

"It was a pleasant match between two teams who played excellent football. We came into the game with a positive mindset of winning but missed several open chances.

For example, we had opportunities to score from inside the box, but you could only find one or two players instead of four or five, and that was our main undoing," he said.

Nairobi City Stars had their chances, especially in the first half, with attackers Samuel Kapen and James Mazembe failing to find the back of the net on several occasions.

After not offering much in the opening 45 minutes, Kakamega Homeboyz had a chance to grab a winner through Felician Okanda, who had a shot hitting the frame of the goal.

The Abana Abeingo has now recorded nine draws in the league, and from the two points dropped on Wednesday, they currently sit in the eighth position in the standings.

Odhiambo feels that there are some positives that they can take from the match, which was the coach's 12th game in charge since his appointment in mid-February.

"There are a lot of positives.I think we are really doing well. We were fantastic today as for now I understand my players well and they understand me better so I expect wins in the remaining matches," he added.

Kakamega Homeboyz moved to position eight on the league standings - 20 points behind leader Gor Mahia.

The Western-Kenya-based side has now turned its attention to the FKF Cup quarter-final clash against Kariobangi Sharks, scheduled for Sunday, April 30.
