Luka Doncic signs $165 Million extension with Los Angeles Lakers
Luka Doncic, has signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Slovenian superstar, who was traded to the Lakers by the Dallas Mavericks, will have a player option in 2028.
Six months ago, Luka Doncic was the centrepiece of a blockbuster trade that sent him from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The team, coached by JJ Redick, made it clear they intended to build their franchise around the 26-year-old star.
After signing his three-year extension, Luka Doncic announced a $5 million donation.
The Lakers' strategy paid off. Doncic signed the three-year, $165 million extension on Saturday, August 2nd.
The 2017 EuroBasket champion could remain with the Lakers until at least 2029.

"I'm proud to continue wearing the purple and gold and to fight for championships here in LA.
"I'll give everything I have to this team and to all of you. Also, today I'm pledging to donate $5 million to help 77 young athletes around the world pursue their dreams, just like I did.
"Basketball has given me everything, and I'm fortunate to be able to give back and help the next generation.

Luka Doncic has undergone an impressive physical transformation this summer.

Before returning to the NBA this fall, Luka Doncic will represent the Slovenian national team at the European Basketball Championship.
The 2017 champions are in Group D with Iceland, France, Poland, Belgium, and Israel, with games being played in Katowice, Poland.
