Lookman struggles in first Serie A start as Atalanta settle for a draw against Como
The home side came into the game full of confidence after their impressive comeback win in the Champions League.
However, they failed to channel their UCL energy into their game against Como as they only settled for a 1-1 draw.
As it happened
Ademola Lookman made the starting lineup for Atalanta, which was his first start in the Serie A this season and his second in all competitions.
The Super Eagles star was in the lineup against Club Brugge in their 2 -1 win in the UEFA Champions League.
The first half had a lot of chances, leading to one goal scored by each team. Lazar Samardzic opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the game after getting on the end of a loose ball in the penalty area and placing the ball into the bottom corner.
However, 13 minutes later, Como equalised following Maximo Perrone’s cracker that deflected off the left post into the back of the net. Both teams pushed to take the lead but could only settle for a draw at halftime.
In the second half, Atalanta tried to take the lead but Cesc Fabregas’ team held their ground.
Lookman was unable to influence the game as he has always done for Atalanta. He missed two big chances and did not have any shots on target until he was substituted in the second half.
The game ended 1-1 at full time, with the draw leaving Atalanta in sixth position, one point above their opponent Como who are in seven place.
