Atalanta's director has issued a firm statement regarding the club's star players, including Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, stating that they are not under pressure to sell.

Tony D’Amico, the football administrator, made it clear that the Serie A leaders Atalanta intend to retain their key players despite mounting speculation.
Lookman, who recently earned recognition as the CAF Player of the Year, has been a focal point for admirers, especially after his standout performances this year, which includes helping La Dea secure a 1-1 draw against Lazio in their final match of 2024.
Reports from Football Italia indicate that clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool have expressed interest in Lookman and fellow star Ederson. Manchester United are particularly keen on Ederson, while Lookman has caught the eye of Premier League leaders Liverpool.
What Atalanta’s chief said
However, D’Amico reassured fans and stakeholders that Atalanta are committed to maintaining their current squad until at least the summer of 2025.
"The January transfer window is a difficult one for all clubs," he stated. "If there are any opportunities, we will go for them, but obviously maintaining the full squad that we currently have at our disposal is our priority."
Reflecting on a successful year, D’Amico added, "This 2024 has been unforgettable, with two finals and one trophy. We always approach each game with the same determination, trying to achieve the best we can."
As the transfer window approaches, Atalanta's resolve to keep their stars will be tested, but for now, the message is clear: Lookman and his teammates are not for sale.
