Nigerian international Ademola Lookman's potential move to Inter Milan has received a major endorsement from one of football's most revered tactical minds, Arrigo Sacchi.
The legendary former AC Milan head coach believes Lookman possesses the qualities to be a game-changer for the Nerazzurri, provided he quickly integrates with the squad.
Lookman was in scintillating form for Atalanta, scoring 20 goals and providing 7 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions last season.
What Sacchi said
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi lauded Lookman as "a phenomenal sprinter," emphasising that this specific attribute is precisely "the quality that [Inter] need to make the most of."
He continued, “Anything is possible, as long as everyone sacrifices themselves for the good of the team. In my Milan, Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard, Donadoni and the rest all played together.
“The key is that Chivu outlines a clear strategy and that his players stick to it without getting discouraged at the first setback. But to field a trio like that, the forwards will have to work very hard when pressing, otherwise the team will suffer.”
The ringing endorsement comes amidst ongoing negotiations between Inter and Atalanta for the versatile forward, with La Dea reportedly holding out for a €50 million transfer fee.
Inter are said to be preparing an improved offer, having initially bid €40 million. Lookman himself is keen on the move and has reportedly agreed personal terms with Inter.
