Lineker co-signs Rashford to Barcelona: How many English footballers have played for Catalan giants

An English footballer at Barcelona is a rare occurrence, and with Marcus Rashford set to join the Catalan giants, another Three Lion who played for the Blaugrana, Gary Lineker, has co-signed the move. 

As Pulse Sports reported, Marcus Rashford’s time at Manchester United appears to be drawing to a close as Barcelona close in on a deal to sign the England forward. 

Talks are at an advanced stage, with both clubs aligned on a loan move that includes an option to buy. Rashford has given his approval, and all parties are finalising terms, according to Fabrizio Romano. 

When Marcus Rashford completes his move to Barcelona, he will be the first English player to play for the Spanish champions since former BBC MOTD host Gary Lineker. 

Lineker scored 51 goals in 138 games for the Blaugrana, winning the European Cup Winners' Cup and Copa del Rey in his three years at the club. 

When the news broke that Manchester United have agreed to Barcelona's terms for the striker, Lineker updated his Instagram profile picture with an image of himself and Rashford clad in England no. 10 jerseys.
