Lewandowski's wife provides update in his Barcelona future

Robert Lewandowski’s wife, Anna Lewandowska, has contributed to the uncertainty surrounding her husband's future after she recently suggested that he could be playing his final season at the club. 

In a conversation with Polish outlet Onet Plejada, per MD, Lewandowska communicated that they were unsure of what the future holds, noting that they were taking each day as they came. 

“We’ll see how the season goes in Barcelona this year because, let’s say, it will probably be my husband’s last here, so we’re squeezing every last drop out of it,” she said. 

“We’re enjoying every moment, every match with the fans, because we know that one day we won’t have any of this. What’s next? We don’t know, but that’s the path of a great athlete, and especially a great sportsman, and we’re ready for it.”

As Pulse Sports reported, Barcelona have decided against renewing the Pole’s contract when it expires at the end of the season, as they are prepared to reinvest his lofty wages in their squad, specifically the acquisition of a younger centre forward. 

Barcelona have been linked with a number of names, including Julian Alvarez, Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen, Karl Etta-Eyong, etc. However, their complicated finances and Lewandowski's performance in the second half of the season could see them offer him a short-term contract. 

Meanwhile, Anna is not alone in the uncertainty, as Barcelona boss Hansi Flick also revealed he “doesn’t know” where Robert Lewandowski will play next season, as the club has yet to make an official decision on the forward’s future.
