Let’s do it again - Ahmed Musa urges Super Eagles to pick World Cup ticket
Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has sent a heartfelt message to his teammates ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Benin Republic in Uyo, urging them to mark his birthday with a victory that would keep the country’s qualification hopes alive.
In a video shared on the Super Eagles’ official X account, the 33-year-old forward described the clash as more than just a football match, calling a win “the best birthday gift” his teammates could give him.
What Musa said
He said, “Hello guys, today is the day, and today is my birthday,” Musa said in the video.
He continued, “We all know what is at stake when they get and wait for the result of South Africa, Rwanda. I know you can do it. This is the best birthday gift that you’re gonna give me, guys. I miss you all. I wish you the best of luck.”
Happy birthday to our captain, Ahmed Musa! 🎉

“Hope so far good. I know we can do it. Let’s do it again today. Best of luck,” he added.
The message came just hours before kickoff at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, where Nigeria must defeat the Benin Republic to stay in contention for a World Cup ticket.
Having missed out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Super Eagles are in danger of failing to qualify for consecutive editions for the first time since making their debut in 1994.
Nigeria currently sits third in Group C with 14 points, three behind leaders Benin Republic and one adrift of South Africa.
