Kenyan marathoner Purity Changwony slapped with doping ban

Purity Changwony is the latest Kenyan to be sanctioned by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for violating anti-doping rules.

The ban, which has been backdated to July 28, 2022, indicates that Changwony had used prohibited substances, 19-Norandrosterone and Triamcinolone Acetonide.

The sanction means she will not be stripped of any of her titles since her last international race was the Prague Marathon in May 2022 where she settled for second place in 2:25:11.

She joins the long list of Kenyan athletes who were banned including Betty Lempus, Diana Kipyekoi and Purity Rionoripo among others.
