Bonucci axed by Juventus

Bonucci has been with Juventus for most of his career, with two different spells at the club spanning a total of 12 years and was named club captain at the start of last season.

Despite his standing at the club, it has been revealed that Bonucci will be axed from the squad and asked to find a new team as the Old Lady approach future plans with new sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, who joined the club from reigning Serie A champions Napoli.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Guintoli has informed Bonucci that the club will not count on him for the upcoming season.

Bonucci joined by McKennie in Juventus’ hit list

Bonucci had planned to retire from football at the end of his current contract with Juventus, which expires in 2024 but has now been told to either find a new club or move up his retirement date.

The 36-year-old defender is not alone in being jettisoned by the Bianconeri, who have also reportedly informed American midfielder Weston McKennie, who spent last season on loan with Leeds, that he will play no further part at the club.
