Jose Peseiro: Ex-Super Eagles boss lands new job with African giants

Jose Peseiro is finally set to return to management, one year after leaving his role as head coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles.

According to Record.pt, the 64-year-old is expected to succeed Christian Gross as the new Zamalek manager.

This move marks the Portuguese tactician's return to Egyptian football after previously managing Al Ahly during the 2015/16 season.

Under Peseiro's guidance, the Super Eagles finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, losing to hosts Ivory Coast in a thrilling final.

Peseiro's contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expired in February 2024, paving the way for his reported move to Zamalek.

Interestingly, Nigerian football legend Emmanuel Amuneke also has a history with 5-time CAF Champions League winners Zamalek, having played for the club between 1991 and 1994.
