Jordi Alba set to leave Barcelona as club clear up funds for Messi’s arrival

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba is set to leave the LaLiga giants at the end of the season to pursue a new challenge.

The 34-year-old has a contract that runs until 2024 but both player and club have now come to an agreement that will see him depart at the end of the season as a free agent.

His last home game for the Blaugrana will therefore be against Mallorca on Sunday at Spotify Camp Nou where he will have a chance to say goodbye to the fans.

Alba's exit could help accelerate a move for Lionel Messi as his departure frees up even more funds to allow Barcelona put together a package for the Argentine superstar.
