‘It’s revenge for us’ - Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade looking to avenge previous defeat against South Africa

The 24-year-old star, currently showcasing her skills with Atletico De Madrid Femenino, has been a force to be reckoned with this season, netting five goals and providing four assists primarily from the left wing. 

She played a pivotal role in Nigeria's recent triumph over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, securing a 1-0 victory across two legs.

Ajibade, fueled by determination, expressed her team's resolve to avenge their previous defeat against South Africa in the Women’s African Cup of Nations back in 2022. 

With the Paris 2024 Olympics looming large, Nigeria views this clash as a crucial stepping stone in their quest for qualification.

“I think for me, it’s a revenge time for us because it’s a tough match against them. Right now we want to compete at the Olympics and to get there, we have to defeat some of the best teams to show that we can play amongst the best,” Ajibade emphasized during the pre-match conference, as reported by Soccernet.

The first leg of this high-stakes encounter is slated to take place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday, April 5. 

The intensity will only ramp up as the teams prepare for the reverse fixture at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday, April 9.
