It’s not tactical — Amorim blames Manchester United’s poor form on players
Manchester United’s disastrous Premier League campaign has drawn criticism from within, as manager Ruben Amorim distances himself from blame.

Amidst a historically poor season, the Portuguese boss has pointed fingers squarely at the players as the reason for the abysmal form.
Amorim says Manchester United form not down to tactics
After managing just six wins in 25 league games since replacing Erik ten Hag in October, Amorim admits the team’s current position is an embarrassment.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he expressed frustration with the team’s mentality, saying, “Sometimes it is not about the way we play tactically, it is the way we face competition and suffer.”
Amorim believes the root of United’s failings lies in a lack of fight, resilience, and emotional response to defeat.
The former Sporting boss insists that the club’s culture lacks urgency and hunger, two qualities he sees as essential at a club of United’s stature.
He added that the issues extend beyond the pitch, saying, “We have all the conditions to be better, but something is missing in our behaviour."
Man United boss calls for culture change
Amorim dismissed the idea that a few summer signings would fix the situation, calling instead for a fundamental change in the club’s identity.
“It’s not about transfers,” he stated, before also adding, “That is more profound than changing people.”
He insists United must rediscover a culture where losing is unacceptable. Despite their Europa League final against Spurs on the horizon, Amorim urged the team to shift focus to Friday’s match against Chelsea.
With seven winless league games behind them and fans looking past domestic failures, Manchester United’s chances of ending the season with a Champions League berth now rest solely on European silverware.
