‘It’s in our blood to overcome’ - Super Eagles captain Ekong shares update on teams return
Ekong and his teammate with other NFF delegates were held down on their arrival to Libya for the second leg of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The Libya FA failed to make adequate preparations for the team after diverting the Super Eagles flight to another airport.
The team were left stranded at the airport for more than 15 hours without any provision of food or drinks.
Ekong speaks on Super Eagles return
Troost Ekong has shared on social media that the Super Eagles have arrived in Nigeria safely after their terrific encounter in Libya.
The Super Eagles captain posted on X saying, “BACK HOME, SAFE & SOUND. Proud of this team, NAIJA SPIRIT can’t be broken.

Ekong has said that he is proud of how the team handled the situation in Libya and they can withstand any difficulties.
He also revealed that he has experienced a lot in his last 10 years with the team but not what he faced with his teammates in Libya.
He claimed that the difficulty the Super Eagles and NFF delegates faced has brought the team together.
The Super Eagles team have now arrived in Kano, Nigeria, after the team decided to forfeit the game.
