Kevin De Bruyne expressed his relief after Manchester City ended a seven-game winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
The Belgian midfielder played an important role in the win, scoring a goal and providing an assist.
The 33-year-old has been plagued by injuries this season, limiting his playing time.
However, his return to the starting lineup has provided a boost to City's midfield.
De Bruyne expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, highlighting the creation of several opportunities.
"I think it's just important that we won a game. We started the game well, created some opportunities, maybe a few mistakes, but you know, happy with the way that we performed," De Bruyne said via Reuters.
"It's been a tough time but we tried to change it. Unfortunately, we've got a few guys who are maybe injured so, it's what is happening this year," De Bruyne added.
Despite the recent struggles, De Bruyne remains optimistic about City's chances of turning their season around.
"We'll try to recover as quickly as possible. We gave a couple of chances away but I think the second half is pretty good," he said.
City will be hoping to climb the Premier League table as they face Crystal Palace during the weekend.
