'It will be a tough one' — Eguavoen finally lists 3 conditions to accept permanent Super Eagles job
Nigeria's search for a permanent head coach continues, with Augustine Eguavoen, the current caretaker boss, outlining his demands for taking the reins long-term.
Since Jose Peseiro's departure, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been searching for a suitable replacement.
Eguavoen, who is also the NFF's technical director, stepped in to guide the team in recent weeks and will lead the team against Libya in the upcoming qualifiers.
Eguavoen makes demand to take permanent Super Eagles role
The 58-year-old's interim stint has yielded promising results, including impressive outings in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Despite his relative success, Eguavoen remains cautious about committing to the permanent role.
In an interview with Brila FM, he emphasised the importance of a stable environment.
"It will be a tough one," Eguavoen admitted.
"You have to give me a long-term contract with patience and clauses in that contract because winning is not guaranteed every week or day."
“You will give me time to tweak the team till I find what I want.”
