‘It took me a while’ - Lookman opens up on scoring first goal of the season and returning to his best
The Super Eagles star played an important role in helping Atalanta secure another 1-1 draw against AC Milan.
The Nigerian international found the net at the Gewiss Stadium, earning a crucial point for an Atalanta side that has remained unbeaten but struggled to secure wins.
Despite his goal, La Dea were unable to claim a win but instead extended their unbeaten run in the Serie A, racking up multiple draws.
Lookman speaks on scoring the first goal
Speaking to DAZN, via Milan press, after the match, Lookman shared his thoughts on his performance and his return to form.
"It was important to be available to the team again," he stated. "I hope to get even more fit. It took me a while, but now we have to grow and aim to win the next few games."
Lookman's well-taken equaliser with his left foot cancelled out an early goal from Samuele Ricci.
The strike was a significant moment for the 28-year-old, who has been working his way back to full fitness.
"When I'm on the pitch, the most important thing is to help the team win," he added, emphasising his commitment.
Lookman's return to the scoresheet suggests he could provide the clinical edge Atalanta has been missing.
As he regains his sharpness, the Super Eagles star will be pivotal in Atalanta's push to convert their resilient performances into victories and climb the Serie A table.
Atalanta will now face Torino, where Lookman will aim to build on his positive momentum and help guide the Bergamo club back to winning ways.
