‘It reminded me of Stoke City with Rory Delap’ - Haaland speaks on Brentford long throw tactics

The Citizens secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Brentford at the weekend, with the win putting them three points behind Arsenal.

Haaland's second-half strike was enough for Pep Guardiola's men to secure a hard-fought victory over Brentford. 

After the game, the forward compared Brentford's tactics and Tony Pulis's famously direct Stoke City side after scoring the winner in a highly physical contest on Tuesday.

Speaking to Sky Sports, via Daily Mail, after the bruising encounter, the Norwegian striker shared his thoughts on the battle.

"It was a tough game and it reminded me of Stoke City with Rory Delap 15 years ago!" he said. "They are huge and do throw-ins from the middle, so of course, it is not easy. 

“But it is about preparing for what is going to come and analysing well, and we did. The backroom staff did their job really well. All praise to them."

Long throw-ins have seen a resurgence in the Premier League this season, with Brentford among the teams utilising the strategy. 

However, Haaland and City successfully defended their box, and the striker's goal ultimately secured three crucial points.

After the international break, Haaland and his teammates will face another tough physical test when they host Everton at the Etihad.
