It is not working! Chelsea icon gives damning verdict on Ruben Amorim's Man Utd

Ruben Amorim has won just 9 Premier League games since taking over as Manchester United boss 11 months ago.

Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has suggested Manchester United must move on from Ruben Amorim following the Red Devils’ 3-1 defeat to Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

The result means Amorim is yet to register consecutive victories since taking charge at Old Trafford, and his win ratio of 27% is the lowest in the club's history.

Brentford’s win was secured by a brace from Igor Thiago and a stoppage-time strike from Mathias Jensen, after Benjamin Sesko had pulled a goal back for United before the break.

Captain Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty in the second half that would have levelled the score, his second miss from the spot this season.

Is Amorim's time up at Manchester United?

Speaking on TNT Sports, Cole suggested that the failure of the project under Amorim is now clear.

“You know I don’t like saying that, but for him [Ruben Amorim] as well, he was the bright spark; people were talking about him like the messiah.

“I thought Gareth Southgate was the perfect man for the job in terms of building a culture and understanding the players. They went with Amorim, and it doesn’t look like it’s working.”

Amorim has won just 9 of his 33 league games in charge, failing to win any of his last 8 away games in the league.

United owners INEOS are reportedly set to stick with the Portuguese tactician for now, but another defeat next week against Sunderland could be the final nail in the coffin.
