Is It a PR Move? Cristiano Ronaldo yet to acknowledge his engagement to Georgina Rodriguez

Georgina Rodriguez sent the internet into a frenzy by seemingly announcing her engagement to football icon Cristiano Ronaldo. 

Taking to her Instagram account on Monday, the 31-year-old model and influencer shared a breathtaking photograph of a dazzling ring on her finger, captioned with the heartfelt words, "Sí, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas," which translates to "Yes, I do. In this life and in all my lives."

 The news immediately went viral, with fans flooding social media with congratulatory messages and marvelling at the size of the diamond ring worth a whopping ₦7.7billion ($5 million).

However, in a surprising turn of events, at the time of this publication, neither Cristiano Ronaldo, 40, himself nor his family members have publicly acknowledged the news.

Despite Ronaldo's official Instagram account being tagged in the post by Georgina, CR7 has not engaged with it on any of his social media platforms, nor has he confirmed the news himself, as at the time of this publication.

Ronaldo's last post was made three days ago, with the billionaire footballer sharing a photo of himself shirtless and flaunting his ripped physique, during a training session with Al Nassr.

The Portuguese star’s silence is particularly notable given his immense social media presence, where he often shares glimpses of his personal life.

 The lack of a simple like, a comment, or even a re-post has fuelled speculation across global news sites, leaving many to wonder what the reason could be. 

It's an unusual move for a couple who, despite being intensely private at times, have also used social media to share significant family moments, from the birth of their children to holiday celebrations. 

The silence is deafening but raises a few eyebrows for a couple so comfortable in the digital spotlight.

The lack of reaction isn't limited to Ronaldo alone. 

His fiercely protective family has also remained uncharacteristically quiet on the matter. 

His mother, Maria Dolores Aveiro, and his outspoken sisters, Katia and Elma Dos Santos Aveiro, have yet to engage with Georgina's viral post. 

This is a point of significant intrigue for many, as the family members are all followed by Georgina on social media. 

The absence of a single public reaction from a family so closely connected to the footballer has prompted some to question if there is a more complex backstory to this "fairy-tale" proposal.

However, Ronaldo's niece Alicia Aveiro, did leave a comment on Georgina's engagement post, as she wrote, "The wedding of the century" accompanied by a white heart emoji.

Adding to the mystery is the fact that Georgina's own sister, Ivana Rodriguez, has also not engaged with the post.

 While this might seem less significant, it is a noteworthy detail considering the sisters' close relationship. 

The lack of reaction from Ivana gains new context when recalling earlier reports that suggested a falling out between the siblings in late 2024.

According to Goal, the sisters had reportedly unfollowed and even blocked each other on Instagram, with Georgina having allegedly removed all photos of her sister from her account. 

However, the siblings soon reconciled as Ivana publicly defended Georgina from criticism on social media.

Until Ronaldo himself breaks silence, the public is left to wonder if this is a genuine moment of celebration or a carefully orchestrated publicity stunt.
