'I'm at the Same Table as Kane, Haaland, and Lewandowski' - Arsenal's 70m target boldly claims

Arsenal have been working on a deal to get Gyökeres to the Emirates in recent weeks but are yet to strike an agreement with Sporting CP.

Gyökeres has decided not to resume training, and his actions in the coming days will reveal how determined he is to secure his desired move.

While there have been rumours of renewed interest from Manchester United, all indications point towards a move to North London.

In a recent interview with L'Équipe, the Sporting CP forward was asked where he ranked among today's top strikers. The 27-year-old confidently asserted his place at the very top.

Gyökeres's statement comes amidst a protracted transfer saga linking him with a move to Arsenal. He is reportedly contemplating holding out of Sporting's pre-season training to force a transfer. Sporting is demanding at least £70m ($85m) for the Swedish international, a fee Arsenal has yet to match.

Gyökeres also expressed his eagerness to return to English football and finally test himself in the Premier League, having never made a first-team appearance for Brighton and playing exclusively in the Championship for Coventry City.

"I'm definitely one of them," Gyökeres stated when asked about comparisons to Kane, Lewandowski, and Haaland. "It's hard to classify me, but yes, I'm at the same table as them now. They are extraordinary players, at the top level for many years, who have proven much more than I have."

"For my part, I have to show that I am capable of maintaining these performances season after season. What I managed to do at Sporting, I am convinced I can achieve anywhere. You haven't seen the best Gyökeres yet."
