La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid commended Ilia Topuria, a Spanish fighter who was born in Georgia, on defeating Australian Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298.

Topuria defeated Volkanovski in the second round on February 18 to take the title of featherweight champion.

The 26-year-old Topuria had previously entered the octagon in June 2023 and had defeated Josh Emmett by unanimous decision.

Volkanovski, 35, lost his most recent fight, a first-round knockout against Islam Makhachev, at UFC 294 in October 2023.
