'I wish Isak all the best, except when we play Liverpool' - Dan Burn expresses feelings
The Swedish international joined the Reds for a British record fee worth £125 million after weeks of transfer saga.
The forward had initially been reluctant to resume training with Newcastle, reportedly pushing for a move to Liverpool, which had understandably irked many of the Toon Army faithful.
What Dan Burn said
Burn expressed his full understanding of Isak's decision and wished him well for the future during an interview.
“I’m glad it’s all over now. We wanted the transfer window to close to bring some clarity. I’ve been in football long enough to understand that from a player’s perspective, their careers are short, and there are things they want to achieve.
"Alex is a friend, and the situation was difficult because I wanted him with us, helping the team, but I also understand what he needed to do for himself. I wish Alex nothing but the best; there’s no animosity whatsoever.
"As Newcastle fans, we’re always ready to defend our club and our city. Supporters want players who are eager to play for Newcastle.
"So, I understand our fans, but I’ve been in football long enough to grasp what goes on. I wish Alex all the best, except when we play against Liverpool,” Burn stated during an England national team press conference, as reported by Sportal.
