I wish he was my player — Carlo Ancelotti opens up on biggest coaching miss

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi is the one player he wishes he had the opportunity to coach throughout his illustrious managerial career.

Ancelotti made this admission during a recent appearance on John Mikel Obi's podcast.

The Italian manager, who has had the privilege of coaching some of the world's top talent, including Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his admiration for Messi's exceptional skills.

"Messi is definitely the one that I missed out on working with]," Ancelotti said, reflecting on his extensive experience in the sport.

Ancelotti has had the pleasure of managing top-tier clubs like AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Napoli, and Everton, accumulating an impressive list of players he has coached.

"I have an unbelievable list [of players I coached in my career], and I remember all of them," he fondly recalled. "The teams, the squads, the times we spent together, good times."

Despite his impressive resume, Ancelotti still regards Messi as the one who got away, a testament to the Argentine's unparalleled talent and success throughout his time in Spain and on the World Cup stage.

Ancelotti will now have the privilege of working with new Real Madrid man Kylian Mbappe who arrived from PSG this summer.
