I will join the war - Arsenal star Zinchenko insists he will fight in Ukraine if called up

Zinchenko joined Arsenal in the 2023 season and has been influential in the Gunners title running this season.

The 27-year-old footballer shared his sentiments amidst the ongoing conflict with Vladimir Putin's forces, painting a poignant picture of solidarity and sacrifice.

His words echo a resolute commitment to defend Ukraine, even if it means stepping away from the Premier League. 

Zinchenko's stance reflects the gravity of the situation and his unwavering allegiance to his country.

"I think it's a clear answer. I would go [to fight]," affirmed Zinchenko during his interview with BBC Newsnight as reported by the Sun.

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed legislation lowering the military mobilisation age, a move aimed at bolstering reserves in the face of escalating tensions. 

Zinchenko, cognizant of the dire circumstances, expressed hope for an end to the conflict: "I really hope that this war will end soon."

The defender painted a vivid portrait of Ukraine as a "shield" for Europe, emphasizing the resilience and strength of his nation. 

"I know maybe some people might think that it's much easier… for me being here [in London] rather than being there [in Ukraine]," he reflected, highlighting the stark reality faced by his compatriots on the frontlines.

Zinchenko's commitment to Ukraine extends beyond mere words, as evidenced by his actions. He has donated approximately £1 million to aid his homeland and has been actively involved in supporting those affected by the conflict.
