I will give 100% - Zidane’s son assures Algerians after AFCON 2025 call-up
Goalkeeper Luca Zidane, son of French football icon Zinedine Zidane, has been included in Algeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which kicks off on December 21 in Morocco.
The 27-year-old, who plays for Granada in Spain’s second division, previously represented France at the youth level before switching international allegiance.
Zidane made his senior debut for Algeria two months ago in a World Cup qualifier against Uganda and is one of three goalkeepers selected by head coach Vladimir Petkovic.
What Zidane said
“It is an honour for me, and I will give 100% to make the Algerian people proud,” Zidane said after earning his first cap.
He joins Oussama Benbot (USM Alger) and Anthony Mandrea (Caen) as Algeria’s goalkeeping options for the tournament.
