I will be even better — Caicedo makes big promise ahead of Arsenal clash
Moises Caicedo has promised to add goals and assists to his game to help Chelsea have a successful season.
Since his British-record £115 million transfer from Brighton in 2023, Caicedo has evolved into a dominant ball-winner and a leader within Chelsea's young squad, steadily silencing early critics and justifying his massive price tag.
This season, the former Brighton man has continued to rise, cementing his status as one of Europe's top midfielders. A recent standout performance in a 3-0 Champions League victory over Barcelona highlighted his world-class ability. At just 24, many believe his best years are still ahead.
Caicedo ready to cement status as best defensive midfielder in the world
Despite the widespread praise, Caicedo remains grounded and focused on improvement. When asked by the Daily Mail if he considers himself the best in his position, his response was clear.
"No," Caicedo stated. "So many players are better than me. I don't want to say to the world that I'm the best because there’s no truth to that. In my mind, I'm the best version of myself, if you know what I mean? It's different when you say you are the best in the world."
He emphasized his desire to contribute more offensively. "There are so many good players in my position. I'm doing my best. But I need to show more because I feel like I can do more. With goals, with assists, I can feel it. I know I play in a position where I help the centre-backs, but I can do more."
Looking ahead to a crucial clash with league leaders Arsenal, Caicedo expressed confidence in his team's ability to challenge the Gunners' 16-game unbeaten run. Mikel Arteta's side currently holds a six-point lead over Chelsea and boasts a perfect record in the Champions League.
When asked if Chelsea could end Arsenal's streak, Caicedo was defiant. "Why not?" he replied. "They are doing really well, but we haven’t faced them yet."
