As the countdown to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) intensifies, Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has made her intentions clear that she’s in Morocco to score goals and help Nigeria reclaim their continental crown.
The tournament, which kicks off on July 5, will see Nigeria begin their campaign a day later, on July 6, with a group-stage clash against Tunisia.
The Falcons will then face Botswana and Algeria in their bid to secure a top spot in the group.
With the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) branding the campaign “Mission X” in pursuit of a record-extending 10th WAFCON title, the energy within the squad is high, and expectations are soaring.
What Oshoala said
In a bold and passionate interview with NFF TV, Oshoala spoke about her motivation for returning to the national team setup and what fans can expect from her on the pitch.
“For me personally, I want to score goals, it's what I love to do,” she declared.
She continued, “It's been a while I've played with the national team because there have been so many things going on in my personal life. But whenever I’m here, I want to be on the pitch and help my teammates gain the three points in each game we play.”
“My expectation of the team is as always to give 100 per cent on the pitch, try to win every game we play, and also treat every game as equal and as important,” she said.
Asisat Oshoala opens up on what Mission X means to her, returning to the Super Falcons, and her message to Nigerians back home.
