I play like him - Ex-Flying Eagles star opens up on signing for Wayne Rooney team

Muhammad Tijani recently completed his move from Slavia Prague to join an English side, Plymouth Argyle.

Tijani was signed by the EFL Championship team, which is being led by former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, on a season-long loan with a buyout option.

The forward has expressed his pleasure after completing his move and stated the reason behind the transfer.

Tijani has revealed about how he spoke to England legend Rooney who was keen to bring the Nigerian to England.

Speaking to OJB Sports on X, Tijani said, “Actually, he [Wayne Rooney] did. He is a football legend not only in England but in the whole world. 

“He plays like a striker also [like me]. [So] I think it is a good move for me, that’s why I took the deal. He really influenced the move, because when he called I was like ‘wow! Look who is calling, it’s Wayne Rooney.’ 

“I was shocked. I had to ask my agent, ‘are you sure it’s him?’ He said, ‘yes, it’s him, of course, just take the call,’ and then we spoke, and it was very good.”

Plymouth Argyle ended the recently completed season above avoiding relegation and have appointed Rooney in hopes of having a stronger season.

The EFL Championship side have completed the loan deal for Tijani as the prepare ahead of the new season.
