‘I missed everyone’ - Osimhen happy to rejoin his teammates after AFCON, hails performance against Atlético Madrid

The Turkish side played a 1-1 draw against Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The Nigerian international was immediately reinstated into the starting eleven after his impressive outing with Nigeria.

His performance at the 2025 AFCON competition earned him a spot in the team of the tournament released by CAF.

Osimhen expressed his happiness at rejoining his teammates and playing in front of the home supporters.

"Of course, I missed everyone, especially the fans, very much," Osimhen told the club's official website. "We knew before the match that we would be playing against a strong opponent."

Reflecting on the tightly contested match, Osimhen praised his team's resilience and acknowledged that the result could have gone either way.

"I congratulate my teammates for their fight throughout the 90 minutes; we did a good job against a great opponent," he stated. 

"The match was 50-50. We had chances to finish the game at some moments. I'm happy with our performance."

The draw against Atlético keeps Galatasaray's hopes of advancing to the top 24 of the Champions League alive, with their fate hinging on upcoming results. 

Osimhen and his teammates are now shifting their attention to their next European fixture against Premier League giants Manchester City.
