'I miss the Premier League' - Pochettino eyes Premier League return
U.S. men’s national team manager Mauricio Pochettino has reiterated his ambition to return to club management in the Premier League, claiming he is “still young enough” to win England’s top honours, including both the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League.
What Pochettino said
In a recent interview with BBC Sport, Pochettino was frank about his desire to return to the country where he built much of his coaching legacy.
“The Premier League is the best in the world. Of course I miss it. I am so happy in the USA, but I am always thinking about returning one day. It is the most competitive league, and of course, I would love to come back again,” he said.
Since taking over the U.S. men’s national team in September 2024, Pochettino has committed to growing the Stars and Stripes ahead of this summer’s World Cup, which the U.S. will co-host.
His contract runs for two years, and high compensation fees make an early exit unlikely, yet the Argentine remains candid about his long-term ambitions.
Despite his current focus on international football, he acknowledged the allure of England’s top flight: I am so happy in the USA, but I am always thinking about returning one day.”
He stressed that, while the U.S. role is fulfilling, his dream of lifting major club trophies remains alive.
