According to Gary Lineker, who met Salah at Liverpool's training ground last month, the Egyptian star hinted that he might be tempted by a lucrative offer elsewhere.

Lineker, speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, recalled his conversation with Salah, saying the Egyptian would one day consider playing in a league that offers huge payout.

"He asked me, 'how old were you when you finished?' And I said, 'well, English football I finished when I was 32 and then I went to play in Japan for a couple of years'. And he went, 'ahh, you went for the money did you?' And I said, 'well yeah I suppose so'. And he went, '...Yeah, I might do the same',” he said.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Salah's on-field performance remains impressive, with 25 goals across all competitions this season.

His goal-scoring power has helped Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table, with a six-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
