Reflecting on his decade-long international career, Iwobi described the achievement as a proud moment and thanked everyone who has supported him throughout his journey.

He said, "I am proud to be where I am today and proud to wear the green-and-white jersey. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me, including the coach who first invited me to the national team. I have absolutely no regrets choosing Nigeria."

The midfielder made his senior debut for the Super Eagles in a friendly match against DR Congo in Belgium on October 8, 2015. Nearly 11 years later, he stands on the brink of a century of appearances for the three-time African champions.

Choosing Nigeria over England

Before committing to Nigeria, Iwobi represented England at the youth level. However, the Arsenal academy graduate revealed that his connection to Nigeria always felt stronger.

"I first joined the Nigeria U23 camp and immediately felt at home. I had represented England at youth level, but Nigeria always felt like home to me. My father encouraged me to enjoy my football and make the decision that felt right. He supported me, but he never forced me," he explained.

Despite reaching a landmark that places him among Nigeria's most celebrated internationals, Iwobi remains humble about his legacy.

"I won't call myself a legend. I just see myself as a Super Eagles player. It feels amazing to be close to 100 caps, and if possible, I would love to add another 100. I've truly enjoyed my time with the national team," he said.
