I am very sorry — Man Utd boss Amorim offers apology to fans after worst Premier League season

After Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford, Ruben Amorim apologized to fans for the club’s worst-ever Premier League season, finishing 15th, their lowest since relegation in 1973-74.

Speaking after the match, which came four days after a Europa League final loss to Tottenham in Bilbao, Amorim urged supporters to unite and look forward, despite a tough year.

"First of all, I want to apologise for this season,” Amorim said post-game.

“I know you are really disappointed in me and in the team. I want to say thank you, we are very grateful for your support during the season, and I know it was really hard to support us in many games.

But now we have to make a choice or we stay stuck in the past because this season is in the past -- it’s over. We fight each other or we stick together and move forward.

“Six months ago, in my first three games in charge, with two victories and one draw, I said to you, ‘the storm is coming,’” he reflected.

“Today, after this disastrous season, I want to tell you the good days are coming.

Manchester United are expected to have a busy transfer window, with the number one objective, to rebuild the squad and make it competitive again.

The likes of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha and Ipswich striker Liam Delap are just a few of the players expected to join the club this summer.
