'I am the coach' — Man Utd boss Amorim claps back at Roy Keane after Bruno comments

Ruben Amorim has fired back at club legend Roy Keane over his scathing criticism of captain Bruno Fernandes.

Keane had labeled Fernandes an "imposter" and questioned his suitability to be captain, but Amorim has jumped to his defense.

"I heard about that," Amorim said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Man United's FA Cup tie with Fulham.

"I have a different opinion. Bruno is really important for us at the club, especially for me."

Amorim acknowledged that Fernandes can sometimes come across as critical of his teammates, but attributed this to frustration rather than a lack of leadership.

"I know sometimes he does things as a captain, like gesturing with his arms, and sometimes it looks like he is criticising his teammates. But I think, more than anything, it is frustration—frustration from this year, last year, and even before that."

"Everybody has an opinion. Roy Keane has high standards from his time as a player, so it’s normal for him to have an opinion.

"I have the opposite opinion, and I think my opinion is more important than Roy Keane’s because I am the coach, and I believe Bruno is doing quite well."

The Red Devils have had a disappointing season so far, but they can salvage what's left of it by winning a trophy.

They take on Fulham in the FA Cup 5th Round on Sunday.
