The Blues still have to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on May 25, three days before their continental decider, with Champions League qualification on the line.

While a draw or even defeat could suffice for the London outfit, maximum points guarantee finishing in the top five.

What Maresca said about facing Real Betis

In Tuesday’s press conference, Maresca commented on the Conference League final taking place three days after the Premier League campaign, noting Real Betis have more time to prepare.

“I’m not happy, 100 per cent,” said Maresca when asked about the Spanish team having longer to prepare. “You cannot allow a team 48 hours more than the other team when you play the final of a European competition.

“I don’t know if it’s from La Liga, the Premier League or UEFA. If I ask you if it is normal to play a final where a team has 48 hours more than the other team, it is not normal.

“I think it’s not something correct. Now, if it’s UEFA, La Liga or the Premier League, I don’t know to be honest.”

Maresca then provided some early team news ahead of the showdown with the Spanish side, highlighting the one player expected to start for the Blues.

Chelsea are chasing European success to secure a clean sweep of every continental title, having won the Champions League, Europa League, Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

What’s next for Chelsea?

Chelsea travel to Nottingham Forest on the final day, bidding to secure their top-five place.
