I am not going to beg for vote - Yamal shuts down campaigning to win Ballon d'Or award

With the 30 nominees for the 2026 Ballon d'Or announced, Yamal is once again in contention for one of football's highest individual honours. 

The race is expected to be fierce following a season filled with remarkable performances and a World Cup that reshaped the global football hierarchy. 

While other contenders are building momentum, Yamal has adopted a different approach: he will not be actively seeking the award.

During a press conference before Barcelona's Champions League match against Feyenoord, the young forward was asked if he would consider campaigning to win the Ballon d'Or.

Yamal's response was direct and unequivocal. He believes his performance on the pitch speaks for itself and that it is up to the journalists to decide who is most deserving of the recognition.

"I don't think I need to campaign. Everyone can think whatever they want," Yamal stated, adding a definitive line that left no room for interpretation: "I'm not going to start begging for anything."

Meanwhile, Yamal has started the new season with Barcelona firing on all cylinders, having recently led the team to a 5-1 win over Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League first game.

The Spanish winger has now scored five goals in his last five games across all competitions this season.
